Northern Peninsula Area Danger and Warnings
Located in the northernmost tip of Queensland, the Northern Peninsula Area (NPA) is a remote area that is home to a number of Indigenous communities. As with any remote area, there are a number of personal security concerns that visitors and residents should be aware of.
Dangers and Warnings
The region is known for its rugged terrain and extreme weather, which can pose dangers to those who are not prepared. Cyclones, floods, and bushfires are all risks in the area.
There are also a number of safety concerns related to wildlife, including crocodiles, snakes, and other dangerous animals. Visitors should take care when swimming or fishing in waterways and should obey any warning signs.
Crime in the NPA is generally low, but visitors should take precautions to avoid becoming a victim. Petty theft and property damage can occur, so it is wise to lock vehicles and keep valuables out of sight.
Emergency Services
In case of an emergency in the NPA, call 000.
The Queensland Government provides a range of emergency services and resources for residents and visitors in the area. The Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, and Queensland Ambulance Service are all on hand to respond to emergencies.
